Step-by-Step Growing Guide

Carambola thrives in deep, well-draining loamy or sandy loam soil with a pH of 5.5–6.5. Amend heavy clay with compost and coarse sand before planting. Space trees 6–9 meters apart to allow canopy spread; in small gardens, prune to keep under 4 meters. Plant the grafted tree at the same depth as its nursery container. Water deeply twice weekly during establishment, then reduce to once weekly once roots are set — the tree is sensitive to waterlogging but cannot tolerate drought.
